It’s Donna, and I’ve just had a lovely weekend away with some friends, crafting and catching up. We have done this girls’ weekend once a year for the last 8 years or so, and it’s always great to catch up. It’s amazing when women who care about each other get together, how many of the world’s problems are solved. We all have our stories, and sometimes it’s nice to have the time and space to share them and to nurture each other.
I spent some time playing with the Floral stamp set, and made this set of two cards, adding the sentiment from the Desert Cactus stamp. I really like the clean, simple lines of these cards, and all the white space. The images were coloured with Copic markers, and stamped in Memento ink, which is Copic friendly. I cut the windows out using dies, but you could use a ruler and a craft knife to cut a window if you don’t have dies.
Here is a look at the colouring on the first card. The Copics blend well, even when changing colours, so I decided to mix it up a little. Although we have some cacti here in Australia, we don’t have this type, especially in the South where I live because it is so cool here. (Think English weather) so I made my own colour combination. It’s nice to be able to look at the sunny colours even in the cold winter weather that we’re having now.
Here is a close up of the second card. You can see that I fussy cut the images, leaving a small white area around the outside. This type of cutting works well for images with fine details, like the spikes on the cacti.
I hope you enjoy seeing the stamps used in a different way, and that I’ve inspired you to get crafty. If you’d like to see more cards, feel free to visit and follow my Instagram account. If you want to buy this lovely Floral stamp set, you can do so here.
Until next time,
