Hello friends! Today just happens to be my oldest daughters birthday! So I’m sharing a page I did, with her in mind, especially for this special occasion! As she is my oldest, now 14, also having a 3 year old brings back so many memories of her when she was that age. It just seems like over the last few birthdays my baby isn’t such a little girl anymore, but a blossoming young woman. No longer is she just looking to her Mom and Dad for conformation and to find her place in this world… (**sigh**) The older she gets the more I have come to realize there is more and more variables in her life that are out of my control… after reading a fabulous article by Lysa TerKeurst she pretty much sums it up that we are not God, and we can’t operate like we are. As she puts it “Hello my name is Mom, not God.”
She explains that to bridge the gap between where things we can control end and trusting God begins, we must pray! So, I have many prayers for my daughter, but above all of them what I pray the most that she realizes above all else that she is a true daughter of the King. (Galatians 3:26) I pray that she may find her identity and build her character around that truth. That when life lets her down, or she feels unsure, that she may find comfort, strength and confidence in that truth.
I decided to journal this in my interleaved bible so I would have more room. I actually didn’t prep this at all! I began by tracing an image I wanted to use for the silhouette onto my page and then laying out my stamps to see how I wanted to apply them to my page.
For this page I used the “Daughter of a King” Set and the “Worthy” Set. I stamped with my Archival Ink Pad and colored in the silhouette with a Pitt Big Brush marker. I made sure it was dry with my heat tool before I water colored the background with my Prima Watercolors.
Once I was satisfied with the background I added some finishng touches with a white and gold gel pen. I did some outlining, and colored in the hearts. I also finished the look with some pretty gold washi tape and a super cute bow for the page marker.
So friends, that’s all I have for you today! Hoping that we all take a second today to realize how truly loved and chosen we are. We are ALL daughters of the One True King! #spreadsonshine
